Sarah Hyams Carnival Artist and Dancer
With a degree in 3D crafts, a PGCE and a passion for Brazilian dance,
I have worked in arts education for 10 years. I have a wide range of teaching experience in schools,
colleges, community groups and after school clubs and recently with Creative Partnerships.
I have specialised in Brazilian dance and the making of carnival costumes, instruments, lanterns,
puppets and jewellery, using diverse materials and techniques.
If your school or community group would like to experience a taste
of something new whilst learning new skills in art and dance, I can tailor a package to your needs.
Options:
1. Brazilian dance: this can be run as an after school club,
as part of the P.E curriculum or a one off session to compliment a project.
Suggested time - 1 hour (minimum)
2. Brazilian dance with costume and mask-making.
Suggested Time: 3 hours per dance and making
session.
3. Carnival art: the making of masks, costumes and Instruments.
Suggested time: 1.5 hours minimum
for after school club
or embedded in a school project or curriculum.
4. Brazil day or carnival day: enjoy the music and dance of carnival
- a days experience in the dance
and art of carnival.
5. Artist-in-residence: a week’s experience of carnival: this package can offer something for everyone.
Carnival dance, costumes, banners, instruments, masks, lanterns, stories and film!
Extras: One week’s residency plus one day percussion and
one day Capoeira (Brazilian martial art) workshops.
Please book well in advance for this option to make sure all artists are
available.
N.B all prices quoted are as a guideline and do not include art materials.
