Class 7.30-9pm open to all levels, starting at basic level working up
into coreographies.

Sarah Hyams
Sarah is the main dance coordinator and teacher with Sol Samba,
providing
a
welcoming and fun class for beginners and improvers in Samba and
Samba
Reggae. She has been passionate about Samba for many years
and has
performed in carnivals and festivals throughout the UK.
In February 2008 she went to Salvador, Bahia, where
she trained in
Samba Reggae. She has also worked and paraded with in
Schools and
youth groups.
Sol Samba dancers’ further development is encouraged by
organising master classes with guest teachers, trips to London and
maybe even to Brazil!

Mariana Pihno
Mariana is the producer of cultural interchange programs between Brazil
and the UK with Creative Partnerships and has performed in Greece,
Algeria , Germany , Scotland and Brazil.
Mariana has been highly trained in Brazil and is an expert in Maracatu,
Samba reggae, Coco and Samba. Her classes are very fun,
and she successfully passes on her passion for dance and
Brazilian culture onto her students.
In Brazil, She trained with Mabel (Bale Popular do Recife ),
Vania Reis (Fundacao – Salvador ) , Joaquim Lino (Olodum)
& Ney (Maracatu Nacao Pernambuco) and performed as
Float Highlight with GRES Mocidade Independente
de Padre Miguel and performed with Caprichosos
de Pilares and Porto da Pedra.
In the UK she has worked as a choreographer for
BBC Strictly African, Festa! @ Young Vic as well as codirecting
Umbela Arts Maracatu Estrela do Norte, Eri Okan, Maco and
with Umbela Brasil Dance group.
She has performed at Glastonbury, WOMAD, Notting Hill,
Rio and Olinda carnivals.

Laércio dos Anjos Borges
Mestre Laércio was born in Salvador da
Bahia,
the heartland of the Afro-Brazilian culture. Here he dedicated his life
to the
study and preservation of the African originated dance forms that
continue to
exist in Brazil. He is a master of Capoeira Angola, but first and
foremost he is
a dancer, with expertise in many of Bahia’s contemporary and traditional
styles. Based in Berlin, Laércio now spends much of his time travelling
Europe
as a performer and teacher, passing on his knowledge with energy and
humour.
